Below are four very useful, interactive, and user-friendly websites that address topics on typical growth and development as well as a number of different topics about various challenges children may be experiencing.

SMARTER PARENTING

Includes informational videos about improving child behavior and tons of printables and activities that promote positive behaviors, communication, and  responsibilities for kids as well as a blog and photo gallery of inspirational quotes (ex: conversation starters, behavioral plans and reward systems, chore charts, etc.)

SESAME STREET TOOLKIT

Provides an excellent and animated source for information on a range of topics.  The “tool kits” include videos and printables for kids, as well as quick facts, resource guides, and much more for parents and caregivers! Topics include: asthma, autism, brain development, divorce, eating well on a budget, emergency preparation, everyday learning, finances for kids, getting ready for school, grief, healthy habits, healthy teeth, incarceration, lead awareness, math, military families, mosquitoes, national parks, reading and writing, resilience, science/space, STEM (science-technology-engineering-math), support after an emergency, veterans, words, and zika.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT

Provides up-to-date information sheets and videos about children’s milestones, developmental screening, overview and resources on children’s mental health, free materials to print or order, positive parenting tips for children birth to 17 years, and additional information from articles, research, and multimedia tools.

UNDERSTOOD: FOR LEARNING AND ATTENTION 

This is a very user-friendly website that provides a lot of material on the following topics: Learning & Attention Issues, School & Learning, Friends & Feelings, You & Your Family, Community & Events.  Each topic is further broken down into subcategories.  The website also offers personalized recommendations for you and your child and free weekly resources.  Using the “Parenting Coach” box, one can select a particular challenge a child may be having as well as their grade (preK-12th) to instantly get practical ideas for dealing with the particular issue.  Furthermore, parents can read up on the “Through Your Child’s Eyes” section to better understand certain difficulties their child may be experiencing.
